The idea for the Provincial Dinner Theme nights came from Barry Foley through one
of our many conversations about fresh foods, recipe ideas and potential special
event theme nights for the restaurant.
We talked about all of the great, local, fresh and organic fruits, produce and meat
readily available at farms and producers close to the winery location, when available.
That led to our successful ‘Summer Bounty’ menu and special event night. As wonderful
as our local food and food suppliers are, Barry still mentioned a yearning for some
of the dishes of his native Newfoundland. “I bet there are plenty of other easterners
yearning for a good old Jiggs Dinner”. (Wondering what Barry’s talking about? Check

Those comments took us forward to the idea of featuring food from the different
territories and provinces of Canada. Think of it as a celebration of all that our
country has to offer, and also to provide a ‘taste of home’ for those whose roots
are from provinces across this great land of ours.
With the wealth of the summer harvest upon us, we can’t help but start with Ontario
as our featured province. However, we will feature a new province or territory each
month. Have a hankering for some ‘home cooking’? Let us know which province you’d
like us to feature and we’ll go with those receiving the most votes for our next
upcoming dinner! Better yet, feel free to suggest (or even provide) your favourite
recipe from a particular province and we’ll do our best to make it ‘just like you
remember’.
